A Great Experience

Slicing this month has been one of the greatest experiences of my life!
I learned so much from other people’s writing and my own. I learned many ideas that can be used or tweaked for my young writers.
I ‘met’ some phenomenal writers. I am proud of myself. I know this is an achievement and a spark to my writing life. I hope to continue writing and with the feedback and comments I received, I will work on being an even better writer .

Six word memoirs – by my second graders about the International Festival -The impact on my slicing.

Now that I have tried it:
I believe I can do it often.
I believe I am also a budding writer.

Smoothie Maker

I am now a smoothie maker
And with my Ninja
I am able to create
The most refreshing
Juice in the world
My pineapple smoothie
When chilled
Glides and releases
Good feelings
That last
Throughout the day

I am now a smoothie maker
And with my Ninja
I create a coarse
Watermelon smoothie
A richly colored
Concoction that
Delivers happiness
When chilled
It’s natural sugars
Quenches thirst

On very warm days

This structure has been used by some slices I read and decided to research and use it too. I found it at: twowritingteachers.org/2010/05/04/a-book-spine-poem by Stacey. I
collected a few of my professional books and created this poem for teachers.

My book spine poem

In the company of children
You know the fair rule
The meaning makers
Learning together through inquiry

How do we know they’re getting better?
